The price-quality relationship is unbeatable: I've visited several hotels in the U.S., and undoubtedly, this has probably been the most memorable. We visited Ogdensburg just because we saw this interesting accommodation, and at every point, we were surprised. We thought that visiting and staying in a hotel that was previously a school was a great idea, but we found that there was much more that made this place special. As soon as we entered, we noticed the adorable Christmas decorations that were in every space of the school. Jim greeted us with a big smile and asked if we wanted him to give us a guided tour of the place or just show us the room. I couldn't resist the history, and Jim enthusiastically showed us around, adding historical facts about the school and Ogdensburg. It was truly interesting, and I don't think there are more suitable people to bring this hotel to life than them. What better than to sleep in a hotel that was a school with people so passionate about the history and the place it's located? I couldn't ask for more. The room was enormous, and I'm not exaggerating. For this price, here you get two or three times the room size offered in other places. After all, your room is the size of a classroom! The walls are incredibly thick, so it's very unlikely that you'll hear any noise. The decoration in each room is different, and you can see and feel the dedication put into each one—all of them are adorable. The room had a lovely Christmas tree; each room had one, each with different decorations. This detail added an even warmer touch, and I regret not spending Christmas here. On the second floor, they have a well-equipped kitchen available for Sherman Inn visitors. And of course, we used it! It made our stay comfortable as if we were at home. Breakfast was delicious. The owners were there to attend to us, and they were truly available for any questions.

You cannot understate how impressive this place is. The rooms are HUGE and amazingly well equipped. The building was a former school and each classroom is now a room to stay in - so they are huge (and each has its own nice bathroom too). Two huge beds, sofas and seating areas, and loads of interesting stuff. The owners have also made a great job of preserving the history of the school, and the area, and you could spend a day just looking around the room and the rest of the building, to learn about the local history. Breakfast was amazing too. See the photos. We normally skip hotel breakfast, but had to make an exception here. I was drinking tea - I even got to choose which teapot I had (there were lots of fun choices, mine was shaped like an elephant!) Ogdensburg is a really lovely place too - great parks, great ice cream shop, and a lot of history that I knew nothing about beforehand. And its a good base to visit various things from as well. Incredible job, a total and very pleasurable surprise. We even changed our schedule to stay an extra night.

Wonderful accommodation. We were given an informative & amusing tour by Jim who showed us 3 of the beautifully decorated rooms. A lot of thought & consideration has gone into the styling & history of each room. The beds were extremely comfortable with soft, warm linen. The rooms were large & would easily accommodate a family. It's located in a quiet street with plenty of parking onsite. As the building was double walled it provided a peaceful sleep. Donna cooked a delicious breakfast of waffles & fresh fruit. Endless tea & coffee provided with a story from Jim. Would highly recommend staying here. Wonderful hosts & history to this school building.

We loved everything about the Sherman Inn! It's very unique in that it is a former school. The owners are certainly knowledgeable about their inn and Donna gave us a wonderful tour full of historical information about the area. Each room is named after a U.S. President who came through the area, and each room has books and artifacts in it about the President it's named after. The rooms are very large suites and are more than comfortable. Each is tastefully decorated and so inviting. We felt like royalty staying there. The breakfast is not to be missed!
